Kohl moved from Iowa to Roseburg in 2002 and received his firefighter and paramedic training from UCC. He’s a firefighter/engineer with Roseburg Fire Department as well as current president of the Roseburg Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 1110. He and his Montana-born wife have three children and love Roseburg’s small-town atmosphere and the surrounding outdoor recreation opportunities.

Kohl has training and experience in negotiating contracts as the elected union president representing 33 firefighters “The people know I am doing the best job possible with their rights in mind.” These skills also equip him with unique perspectives in real estate transactions.
As a real estate investor himself, Kohl and his wife enjoy looking at new properties and studying designs of homes, layouts and remodels. “I see the living part of the home, compared to some people who see the property by the numbers only.”
He says the Greg and the rest of the team at G Stiles Realty feel like family. “Everyone wants to see everyone succeed.”
Kohl says finding a firefighter job is highly competitive. After final testing, he had offers from four places including Roseburg. “I chose this place because Roseburg has everything to offer me and my wife. This fits us and has everything we need with opportunities for involvement and the sense of community we are used to.”
In addition to firefighting, real estate and enjoying his family, you can find Kohl involved with fundraisers for MDA, Community Cancer Center, the community assistance fund for victims of fire, highway cleanup, Toys for Tots and Little League.
